A video that captured moment Lagos lawmaker, Desmond Elliot allegedly called for social media regulation has finally leaked.
Recall we reported earlier that the lawmaker was dragged on Twitter by Nigerians for allegedly supporting an anti-social media bill.
In the heat of the Twitter backlash, the thespian quickly took to Instagram and denied the allegation of being one of those pushing for an anti-social media bill to stifle free speech.
Reacting to the lawmaker’s denial of the allegation, a Twitter influencer and medical doctor, Dr Olufunmilayo challenged him to release to the world a video of what he said about celebrities and influencers.
He also dared the lawmaker representing Surulere constituency to let the whole world see the video of what he said about social media regulation.
Well, Nigerians have finally dug out video of the lawmaker speaking about the need to do something about social media before it ruins Nigeria.
“In the next five years, there will be no Nigeria if we don’t act now”, he said in the video.
He also complained bitterly about how children cursed politicians on social media without iota of respect. “Culture has gone”, he lamented.
He also seized the opportunity to plead with Nigerian celebrities, social media influencers and motivational speakers to “tune down on the hate narrative.”
